Artist Bio

In September, 2011, after 25 years in San Francisco, I moved to Florida's Space Coast to live near my mother. Leaving my friends, career, and the Golden Gate Bridge was not an easy decision, but I was determined to embrace a new life style with an open heart. Soon a new friend invited me to a watercolor workshop in Cinque Terre, Italy, where I was immediately fascinated by the world of painting. Upon my return, I studied with some of Brevard County's finest teachers. I took every workshop at my disposal, and immersed myself in art. I was "all in." European travel continues to inspire me, New York museums thrill me, and Florida provides an abundance of natural beauty. I am constantly exploring new and exciting ways to express my creativity.

Artist Statement

I began painting in 2011 when I sought out some of Brevard County’s finest teachers and signed up for classes with Bobbi Brown, Diane Cannon, Therese Ferguson and Susan Stone. One of my earlier paintings won the People's Choice Award at the Art Gallery of Viera. I took every workshop offered by the Brevard Watercolor Society. I studied in Tuscany, Italy with Mary Whyte, and in Bulgaria and Prague with Stella Canfield. Eventually I began to develop my own style: vibrant colors, strong botanicals, market food still life’s, tropical locations, and most recently abstracts.
I continue to experiment and challenge myself with new subjects. Last year I painted a series of copper pots and scenes after spending a month in Paris. The Eiffel Tower will always be in my repertoire. I entered the Brevard Watercolor's annual exhibition Splash in 2015 where I won an award for "Blushing Coconuts". The same painting won again in the Art Gallery of Viera's annual Brush with Success show. There is nothing like being recognized by your peers. My painting "Claude's Pots" was recently on display in the Arts & Antiques Gallery Kaleidoscope show in Eau Gallie's art district. In September, 2017 I will go to Rome, Italy where I will paint the city's fountains and markets. The art world has opened my heart, ignited my creative passion and allowed me to meet a group of creative, expressive people.
