Ed Carlson has been a watercolorist for 15 years. He has studied with such nationally known artists as Tom Jones, Sterling Edwards, and Iain Stewart. Along with the Studios of Cocoa Beach, Ed's work is currently in the Art Gallery of Viera. His work has won numerous awards, including 1st place in the watercolor category at the 2016 Titusville Art League show. He currently teaches at the Studios of Cocoa Beach, Ralph's Art Supply in the Eau Gallie Art district as well as teaching a quarterly workshop for charity under the auspices of the Shepherd's Center.
As a sailor, who has cruised throughout Florida and the Bahamas, Ed celebrates his cruising lifestyle with a paintbrush and an eye for nautical and tropical beauty. "I love the spontaneity and magic of watercolors and the unique way in which watercolors capture the essence of the tropics and nature." Though, on occasion he will do a few snow scenes, portraying his upbringing in upstate New York and Indiana.
Ed teaches beginning/intermediate classes at Ralph's Art Supply in the Eau Gallie Art District and at the Studios of Cocoa Beach.
In addition to watercolors, Ed's other interests include supporting Surfside Playhouse in Cocoa Beach, both on stage and behind; motorcycling, sailing, SCUBA, and martial arts.
