As a professional art educator I have taught high school students for the past 20 years. Although I have a lot of experience with a variety of medium I am currently focused on creating sea life scenes using patterned papers that I create by stenciling designs on painted paper and wrapping paper. I also use batik fabrics for my sea life collages layering canvases to create an integral background, middle ground, and foreground. My work ranges from 3' by 4' to smaller more intimate 5" x 7" works of art. Having lived in Florida for the past 30 years and grown up on the river I am very familiar with local sea life. These animals inspire me to create somewhat whimsical scenes to promote environmental awareness. I also work with digital images I paint in Photoshop and create shadow boxes with layers of depth that include both artist generated images and sand and shells from the beach. Along this theme I have created jewelry from seashells as well as Christmas ornaments and other smaller pieces so that customers can choose from a variety of price ranges.
