What is Felting?
Felting is an ancient technique to create fabric that has been around since at least 6500 BCE! Felt is a non-woven textile made of wool or animal fur. There are different ways to create felt: one is with soap and water, and another is with a felting needle. Regardless of the process, the action of felting binds fibers together creating a permanent bond and making the felting process irreversible.
Needle felting is a fun way to create two and three dimensional artwork and have become popular in the past few years. Better yet, the repetitive motion ends up having a meditative and calming effect on the mind. It is an incredible stress relieving activity!
For this project, we will be using felting needles to create a small flower pot and fill it with flowers, succulents, or a mix of both. This is a fun project for all ages (I have felted with people from 6 to 80 years old!) So bring the family and come have some fun!
