Whether you've always wanted to try making clay pottery or you need a refresher course, this class is for you!
IWe will be learning the three different methods of hand-building with clay - pinch pot, coil, and slab.
Students may create anything their heart desires with the techniques being taught. You are encouraged to bring pictures or sketches to work from, but there will be resources and suggestions to inspire you.
Tools, resources, and materials will be provided. Please contact the teacher no later than a week prior to the class if you have a strong preference regarding the color of the clay you would like to use (white, red, or brown). Otherwise, you will work with what is available at the time.
IMPORTANT: This class is dedicated to the processes of working with clay. For a finished piece, the work will need to dry and then be fired in a kiln. If you are from out of town, you may choose to take your greenware with you to be fired by a studio near you, or I may have to ship it to you (fees apply). If you are local, you may pick up the bisque fired piece from the studio approximately a week after the class. You will receive an email letting you know when it is ready.
Glazing is available. Please talk to the instructor to set up a date and time for glazing that works for you. Glazing and second firing will be an additional $20 per person.
Thank you!
