Drawing and Painting Instructor
Dave Jones was born in 1948 in Palo Alto, California. Both of his parents were scientists who worked for NASA. Together, they did the pioneering work that led to the swept-back wing design that makes jet travel possible.
All his life Dave had equal passion for jazz and modern art. As an artist, Dave was influenced by Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, Cy Twombly, and Richard Gayton, his drawing teacher at The California College of Arts and Crafts.
Dave has sold approximately 700 paintings and drawings and has taught drawing, painting and color theory for young and old, in his studio and in public venues. He's developed about 20 art courses from Beginning Drawing to an Abstract Painting course. For over 40 years, he has taught a variety of students, including “youth at risk” in the Mississippi Delta, and has taught public school teachers how to teach their students art.
You can hear Dave playing his saxophone in the Melbourne, FL area. Visit www.davesjazz.com to hear his original jazz compositions! Dave welcomes your comments on his work at dj@davejonesart.com.
