Phyllis Devericks was born in Connecticut and raised her three sons there. Phyllis attended Drew University and had a career first as a 6th grade educator and then as a bond trader. She worked and lived in Connecticut until retirement when she and her second husband relocated to Florida. At that time, Phyllis was able to focus on her passion for art. “My interest in painting bloomed 4 years ago while taking lessons. I discovered my love of painting and I began experimenting with acrylics, inks, oil pastels, pigments, metallic paints, glitter, and gold leaf. I enjoy painting with a pallet knife and heavy paint to create thick texture. My subjects range from flowers, birds and landscapes to more contemporary abstracts.”
