Presented by the Studios of Cocoa Beach,
The Studios of Cocoa Beach is pleased to present “Evolution of a Photographer,” a selection of art by Rebecca Ragain.
CMy journey as a photographic artist began with photographic representations of reality and has evolved into my version of artistic expressions and conceptual images. I was honing the technical skills needed to accurately represent what I saw in real life and quickly realized that processing digital images requires as much skill as photographing the images.
I love travel and nature photography because seeing something new always inspires me. A photograph can express visually what no words can, and I do not restrict myself to one type of photography. Many of my images are processed in a manner to show not only what the camera saw, but what I saw in my mind when I took the photo.
When developing conceptual images, I often use various photographs and images which I compile into one image using layers in Photoshop. I may have an original concept when I start working on an image, but the image usually evolves into something totally different from the original concept.
Vibrato was my first completed portfolio of musical instruments, images created entirely in-camera, photographing close ups with a wide aperture.
Concepts in Square is my portfolio of conceptual images. It is a work in progress as I continue my artistic journey using digital technology to create alternate realities and provoke my expressions, thoughts, and emotions.
The exhibition runs from Wednesday, February 1st, through March 3rd 2024.
